@ uriel my name is sergio i have been in a chair for ten years best thing for him just be there. there are going to be some stress points work through them i have been single for ten years i had to love myself before i can love again i was in a car crash i was 19 years old now i am 29 i was streaght out of high school and i had two jobs with in six months i got a brand new car it was the time of my life that i can do and be anybody that i dam well please but know i understand it all i try to be a better person everyday now

Alysha, Hi that's great that you found this site and created a profile for Uriel. One of the best things to do is connect with others who have struggled through the same or similar adversity. I am 17 years post injury, I am 36 and was 19 when I was injured. I am a T10-T12 incomplete para. in Novemember it will be three years that I have been married. I met my wife a little over four years ago. It sounds like your husband has been through a lot but what I've learened is that the families and friends of the individual who has been injured also goes through so much but rarely get the attention or care that they need because so much has to be around the individual who is injured. This is a great site for both of you and it sounds like you are already connecting. There are so many great findings right now going on in Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) research that there is more hope for Uriel than ever before. I can tell you that while many things seem to be over or possibly ending it's not so. I really believe that when my injury happened, though I could not see it at the time, it was just the beginning of one of the most amazing journey's I've ever been on. It's sometimes difficult for people to relate or talk about because while you do not want someone to give up hope of recovering full movement to early it's so important to realize that life can be just as full even if there is not full recovery of movement. I was paralyzed three days after finishing up work as rappelling instructor at a campfire boys and girls camp, one year later I was in a wheelchair, paralyzed, but back at camp as a rappelling instructor. I have gone on to finish my bachelors and masters degree. I have traveled to over 16 different countries including working in an orphanage in Bosnia two years after the conflict ended there. I have worked for several companies including Southwest Airlines, The Dallas Morning News and taught college for seven years at a junior college. I have completed marathons, snow skied, water skied, etc. You name it I have been able to do it. I hope and pray for a full recovery for your husband.
