Hi,

I have a used manual standing frame, a few years old that I originally got for free and no longer need. I am over 6 feet tall and the frame is just a little to small for me to keep using. I am happy to send pics of it if you are in need or interested. I am located in Flushing, New York and if you can come pick it up, it needs a good home.

Please send me an email at toby_merker@hotmail.com if you want more information and pictures.

Spring generally means lacrosse season in my house. I had been playing even at my age and never missed a Maryland Masters Lacrosse season. The competition was stiff and it was such great exercise to get out on the field. I am no longer able to play lacrosse without a wheelchair. I can however hobble around and coach. So that is what I am doing.

Im helping my friend john who is a c4 c5 incomplete get info and assistance from the right places. To help get him in the right direction. First i want to say its hard for people with these injuries to focus on treatment and resources sometimes because the barage of ailments clouds minds like hordes of programs running a computer. When very ill it can be like trying to do.something in a dream. And with not the right help can go backwards quick. Hang in there and respectfully guide them through it. You will get momentum.
He has a suprapubic catheter. Years ago an incision injured his bladder much more.than the 1/2 in to 1 in necessarry. The bladder healed like a badly pollinated apple. His ad is unbearable and daily. He gets very little rest and spends most of the time in bed lying down with one leg propped up all the time or it goes off. Hip ball having issues. Been waiting almost two years waiting for braces. He really needs to be in contact with others who have the same problems. Im prepping him with tablet pc and smartphone skills as best i can. Anyone have advice or a friend he can relate.to?

In August of 2010, in a simple trip and fall, I became an incomplete quadriplegic. Then began the the bowel issues. When my bowels are not moving, my right leg swells terribly, my hands become almost useless, my abdomen is blown out to where I look 8 months pregnant, and exercising is impossible. Then in September of 2011 they found a brain aneurysm which I then had to have brain surgery to have it coiled. The doctors here in Las Vegas know nothing about trearting people with spinal cord injuries and will not listen to me. When I have had procedures, colonoscopy, endoscopy, various MRI's, etc... I come away in worse condition than when I went in because doctors never take my paralysis in to consideration. I have now been diagnosed with LUNG CANCER! I am scheduled for surgery next week and have been trying to make sure that my surgeon take my paralysis in to consideration for post-surgery rehabilitation. I live alone and have no one to help me. I am very scared about this and am not sure if the doctor is really listening to me or if he is like the many others who were only concerned about their portion of what was being done to me. Does anyone have any suggestions? Anyone been through multiple problems not related to their paralysis per se? I could use some input as I have no one to turn to here. My insurance is Senior Dimensions and I have contacted every group In the Las Vegas area and no one will help as I am not old enough (I'm 57) to qualify for many programs and there are virtually no SCI programs that I can find. Transportaion as well as home help are going to be critical. Maybe I should now try a cancer organization? Will this never end?

Hey, does anyone know if bladder surgery is good ? I was just wondering . I am so ready for change, I think my feeling is coming back . & when I wash I can feel a little bit down there & I'm getting some type of feeling in my thighs when I move my hand across the skin . My period came back last year which is a good sign, my mom asked my doctor if I could have kids the day of my last surgery when I was in the hospital & he said yes . I was so happy I'm still a virgin btw . & also I have a over active bladder, I had only 1 UTI when I came home & I cleared that up with antibiotics & I drink a lot of water anyway . I take Oxybutynin twice a day, it helps a little especially it stopped my sweating . I really don't care about the side effect "dry mouth" because I drink a lot & I chew gum & eat candy . At first it bothered me, but I just kept on taking it . Anyways I hope someone answers my question .
