    Help me with bowel time
    By Jane
Please help me with bowel time. My husband has to help me get on the toilet. Can someone help me with some kind of mechanism they have on their toilet that they use by themselves to get on the toilet safely.

why don't you buy a special wheelchair for shower and toilets, you are then on your own for all those problems. I even pack mine when I travel and use it at hotels.
The other good point is you avoid special equipment at home.

Hi Derma, thank you for the link. I saw the 2 large hand bars that will surely will be of help because of the configuration of my bathroom and is easy on the pocket book. Jane

Hello again Patrick, I am finally taking your advice and I want to purchase the "all purpose" potty chair and shower chair. Where do you suggest I look? Thank you for your advice. Jane

    Hello Jane,

I think this is the best move, as you do not need to adapt the bathroom further.
Also it depends on the configuration of bathroom and toilet to move around.

Mine is an Aquatec , I dont know if it is available in your area.
You may stay on the safe side if you ask a local seller so that eventually you will be
sure that you move around safely.

    Good luck

    Patrick.

Thank you Patrick, I have looked up aquatic and they are a bit expensive so I am looking at the Invacare Mariner. I need people like you to guide me with your information (sometimes I'm hardheaded) because I am still new to this. Jane

    Jane,
If you can transfer - My son has a shower bench with the "potty pail".  It is a "Lumex Padded Commode Transfer Bench with tub clamp.  he transfers onto bench - does bowel program (we just line the pail with plastic bags - we double up the bags - and then he showers.  We sit the pail on the bathtub floor so that he can insert his suppository .  He is able to slide the pail out from under him with his suppository inserter and he picks it up and ties bag so it doesn't fill with water.  He sits it out of the tub and then showers.

    Hi Jane,
I have the aquatec because of my size.

But of course you can use a smaller one , less expensive one.

What is important is that you feel comfortable , and easy to use product adapted to your toilets and shower.

The shower chair is definitely what you need and grab bars too if you can afford them.  I'll say a prayer for you.  God bless!  Karen Mathurin
