Hi Lorik, it depends where you are going to be the best care. How long have you had an SCI? I have been a tetra for 24 years now. I have lived a lone in my own home for 16 years. I have had ten hours of care per day which is sufficient for the summer months but not for winter.

Lorik if you are relatively new to sci my advice would be not to be in a hurry as there is much to sort out. Take every advantage you can get though as sci can complicate. Can I ask how old are you? I am 54 years this year and have been a tetraplegic since I was 28 years old.

Thanks. How has life changed for u? What things bring u joy? Tell me about u? I'm single, just turned 40 . I actually have spinal cord cancer, no movement chest down. Left arm moves enough for me to use iPad, eat, brush teeth, I try to talk to my brain daily to be positive, but some days! Ugh! I am in awe of u, tell me more!

    Hi Lonik,
I am a 54 year old man divorced with two grown off-spring. I enjoy sunny days and spending time with my family. I had a wife and a daughter for the first 8 years so that gave me an inspiration. I have also received some excellent care especially with carers employed by a professional agency. I like to travel a lot and any chance to get out of Palmerston North city is gleefully appreciated. There are no short cuts with tetraplegia and I have learnt patience. Disappointed not to have found a soul mate and very disappointed not to achieved employment.

Your injury is new so learn everything you can so you can stay away from expensive medical care. Try to be involved in as many community groups as interation with others and keeping busy is the key ( in my view).

The US is embroilled in electioneering and I hope Barack Obama is returned. New Zealand/Aotearoa is small and we need a positive and thriving America. I am pleased that the Bush administration has gone for everyone's sakes.

    Interested in your thoughts.

Hi Lonik, I have travelled to the US, UK and Europe in 1986 for two years. I worked in Minnesota and then went teaching in London for twelve months. Returned home to NZ in 1987. I had an accident in July of 1988. No, I have never been to Ireland. I returned to the UK in 1999 to follow the All Blacks at the rugby world cup in UK with a carer. Travelled around England, Scotland and Wales. Personally I am pleased that Obama was returned. Not absolutely sure why the 2 last names arrived.

    Regards, Mike GB.
