    Sinister success!
    By Adam
August of 2010 was my c3/4 injury.  October of 2010, I took my first step.  January of 2011 I started going to a "regular" gym.  My right side recovered first, but my left arm and leg have been late to the party.

Today, one year after setting foot in my gym, I managed to curl a 10lb dumbbell with my left arm.  Two weeks ago I couldn't get 3lbs up with that arm (though, the right has had that kind of strength for quite a while now).  I think the acupuncture and deep tissue massages have been helping.

I laughed out loud with joy when I did it.

CONGRATULATIONS!  Yup it’s a slow process… the mind tells you one thing and the body does what it wants when it wants, at its own time.  At the ten pound mark, you're in a league all its own.

I still remember the thrill when I held a telephone to my ear…. Or better yet the exhilaration when I first was able to hold a utensil.  But, want to know what I’m most proud of?  It’s not taking my first steps or ascending steps, it was the ability to walk DOWN steps (what with the issues of balance, equilibrium and the ever presence of gravity).  I still marvel at the mechanics of the process.

Enough about me.  You certinly earned a big AT-A-BOY .  Keep up the good work.
