How do you keep a quadriplegic upon a potty chair for an extended amount of time, like when constantly voiding after drinking a gallon of golytely for a colonoscopy, and prevent pressure sores? My brother has developed a 14.5 cm X 10 cm pressure sore from that very thing! How can we fix it? The wound care RN said that since he skin isn't broken, the hospital would just send him home, so I've been turning him from hip to hip every 3 hours around the clock and putting Boudreaux's Butt Paste upon it, while keeping him off his bottom completely, but what else can I do? It blanches to the touch but has a very raised blister place. I'm afraid he may accidentally pop that blister when he has to slide into his chair when we go to the neurosurgeon's office on Monday morning. We can't cancel that appointment because it is for his last refill of baclofen infusion that he'll get while still on Medicaid for the last couple of days that would be paid for!
