Caregivers, the men and women who care for family members and loved ones, play a vital role in the lives of people with paralysis. Share the challenges and the joys, or just sound off.
Physical and verbal abuse is not love. I have the utmost respect for spouses (including my own) that have to deal with our injuries. I would treat this as if he were any other man. SCI is not an excuse for this type of behavior.
My crossroad is, before the baclafen pump failure my husband was a very loving man. Now he doesn't even remember what he has done. I told him what happened and he cried . He was so upset that he had done such a thing. I do believe he still loves me very much. The medication they gave him seems to be controlling these out bursts. I just don't know if I can put what has happened behind me, or should I?
Tiffany, I really feel for you. I am writing a novel and the protagonist is married to a quad. I wonder if you would be willing to call me or email me at Deryn@SBCglobal.net. I would love to talk to you. BTW you sound wonderful and understanding and loyal. I salute you.
