Disability in Pregnancy and Childbirth. Edited by Stella McKay-Moffat. Foreword by Rosaleen Mansfield. Churchill Livingstone, 2007.
This guide is one of the few to address the specific issues that women with disabilities face during pregnancy and childbirth. While an increasing number of women are now falling into this category, the needs of this group are not always met. The book, which is written by experts in the field, emphasizes how communication and respect are essential in midwifery. It is a practical resource for those who provide maternity care as well as for pregnant women with additional or alternative needs.
A copy of this book can be checked out from the Paralysis Resource Center’s library. Please see the online catalog and borrowing instructions.
