If you live in the South Florida area, you're going to want to be at this event, One Split Second. Feb. 2 from 8-11pm, photographer Alan Roth and musician Ed Kowalczyk will be part of evening's festivities all to benefit the Reeve Foundation. You might be wondering the significance of the name of the event, well here's some more background:
The term “one split second” has many meanings. In one split second, you can capture a photo, or in one split second, your life can change as the result of a spinal cord injury. One split second also defines the relationship between two very influential men in our Miami community. They share more than the same first name. They share a story of spinal cord injuries, and a passion to find a cure.
Alan Roth and Alan T. Brown are both old friends of mine. I met Roth when I got involved in the Fashion Art Ball for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, when I was fresh on the Miami society circuit. Alan is also responsible for me ever having ended up on MTV and VH1, but that’s a different story for another time. Alan T. Brown was introduced to me many years ago through my old friends at my first traumatizing job at RBB PR, but out of every bad experience comes great things—and Alan is in that category.
