Need a New Year's resolution? Bicycle across the country!

Did you make any New Year’s resolutions? Be healthier.. do something you’ve never done before.. exercise more.. ride a bike cross country..? Wait. What was that last one? Yes, ride a bicycle across the whole United States. Okay, so not a New Year’s resolution for one of our Team Reeve All-Star athletes but he sure did this, and so can you! Here’s the story…
Bo Shi, age 22 of Chicago, and two of his fraternity brothers took to some bicycles in June of 2012 not having trained and rode 3,800 miles (that’s almost 67,000 football fields!) And they did all in just 2 ½ months; all to raise money for causes dear to them. (Bo rode on behalf of Team Reeve; his father is living with a spinal cord injury since May of 2008.) Bo’s grand total raised was over $5,000!
Having just graduated college at the time he kicked off the ride, Bo was ready for a new experience. And he sure got one.
Riding through Iowa, Bo and the guys attempted to ride 700 miles in 7 days. “There was five straight days where we rode for 100 miles each day,” said Bo. “I was athletically worn. But it was a big boost, it cemented in our minds, ‘this is something we can do.’”
Want to know more about how the ride went? Check out Bo’s blog all about the ride. (Be sure to look at the awesome pictures, too!)
So would they do it all again? You bet they would. This time going from North to South in the US.
Happy New Year everyone, make 2013 the year you make a difference. Join Team Reeve today.. but don't worry, you don't have to commit to bicycling across the country (though that'd be awesome!)
