Looking for some good laughs? Check out this even in NYC on December 8 to benefit the Reeve Foundation!
Last year our brother Dale Ahn, age 21, was involved in an accident that would hospitalize him for over a month and result in paralysis from the shoulders down. Immediately, my family started reaching out to anyone and everyone for advice, scouring the web for more information, and looking for answers. What kind of care would he need? What would be the best possible functional outcomes? Which rehabilitation centers should we contact? My family had so many questions. The one organization that stood out and that provided a platform to help the process of recovery, healing and hope again was The Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation.
Today, with the backing and support of his family, and dear friends, Dale has started the road to recovery. In the short time that was allowed him to adjust to the changes in his life, we have not once seen Dale give up hope, cease talking about his beloved sports (Knicks, Eagles, Giants), or stop being who he is. He is and continues to be the most courageous, kindest and inspirational person we know.
My family has organized the Comedy Benefit, ’Stand Up for a Cure’, in honor of Dale and the amazing organization which we would be lost without, The Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation. Our goal of $10,000 in fundraising will directly benefit The Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation and a separate portion of the funds will go towards purchasing a much needed wheelchair accessible van for Dale.
"Stand Up for a Cure' will he held on Saturday, December 8, 2012 from 7pm-10pm at Libation NYC. We have no doubt that with the continuous support of friends, family, scientific advances, and brave individuals who continue to inspire, one day there will be a cure. So, come join us today and Stand Up for a Cure!
