I was in New York City over the weekend, and I couldn't help walking by Macy's, seeing the bright lights spell out "Believe" and thinking for a second of Eric LeGrand.

This past Friday night, ABC News in New York aired a piece on Rutgers football player Eric LeGrand's recovery. Eric is enrolled at the Reeve Foundation's NeuroRecovery Network at Kessler Rehabilitation Institute in West Orange, NJ.

Sounding like one of my old Backstreet Boys CDs I've played over and over again (and yes, I do sometimes still play them!) I sound like a broken record because I constantly say I see Eric, I don't see his wheelchair. In watching the news piece on Friday night, I was in tears, because literally all you see is Eric, no wheels.

Eric was sitting upright with Kessler physical therapist, Buffy, just trying to sit on his own for his record of 23 seconds. The video also shows Eric harnessed over a locomotor treadmill (pictured.) Eric defines what he preaches, "believe."

Watch the video from NBC (and be sure to check out CBS New York tonight, December 19, at 11pm for more coverage). After you watch the video, I promise, it will leave you believing, too.

Janelle

UPDATE: Much congratulations to Eric for being named Sports Illustrated's "Moment of the Year" as it was well deserved. Have a look.
