New in the PRC Library: The Paralympic Athlete. Edited by Yves C. Vanlandewijck and Walter R. Thompson. Wiley-Blackwell, 2011

This guide book is the newest volume in the Handbook of Sports Medicine and Science series. It is a comprehensive reference for anyone involved in the care and training of Paralympic athletes. The editors, who are both members of the International Paralympic Committee Sports Science Committee, formulated the book in a way that provides practical guidance to enhance the performance of the Paralympic athlete. In addition to offering training tools, the book also addresses issues related to the psychology of the athlete as well as covering the specific challenges that may arise for those who are trying to provide optimum care to this unique group.

A copy of this book can be checked out from the Paralysis Resource Center’s library. Please see the online catalog and borrowing instructions.
