Are you remembering your summer safety?
My t-5 paralysis was the result of a cycling accident. In avoiding afast on- coming truck, I hit some gravel and flew over the handlebars, landing on my head with the bike still attached. My vertebra was crushed, but the helmet prevented brain injury. Spinal cord injuries occur in a myriad of ways. Sometimes they are just unlucky. I hope for progress towards a cure for injuries like mine (7 years) soon.

Researchers from Spain, Germany, Portugal, Sweden and Czech Republic have developed an interface that allows you to customize and simplify the use of controls universal remote control, through devices such as mobile phones, by the elderly or any visual impairment Dubbed I2HOME, the developed solution creates a personalized and consistent interface that allows simultaneous monitoring in the home or outside heating systems, air conditioning, electronic equipment and electric kitchen lights or television for example.
The interface, designed primarily to help the elderly and disabled people to live more independently, can be attached to a universal remote control, mobile phone, computer or other similar devices and allows, for example, set the washing machine, lights and turn on the TV remote.
I2HOME project, which the EU executive has helped to fund with 2.7 billion euros, has already been tested experimentally in day centers for elderly people and homes in Spain, Germany, Sweden and . In addition, over 100 organizations and companies in Europe are already working with this technology.
In the Spanish case, participated in the research project the Center for Visual Interaction Technology and Communication (Vicomtech) and Matia Gerontological Institute (INGEMA).
The European Commission Vice President and head of the Digital Agenda, Neelie Kroes, has concluded that the project will "develop information technology to make life easier for all EU citizens," especially "elderly and disabled people ".
