Hands
Hello WQ,
Fabulous and very personal contribution about the challenges we faces every day. I'm a C5, C6, C7 "Walking Quad" 5 years adjusting and getting comfortable in my new skin. I'm also recovering from a Severe TBI. My recovery so far has been remarkable, but it hasn't been without personal effort. The central pain from my chest down and especially in my arms, hands, parts of my trunk, legs and feet is continuous...but difficult to describe to anyone that hasn't experienced it. Especially since I am able to compete and ride a regular Road bike and Track bike in National Para Cycling events and in races against able bodied cyclists. Walking is still a challenge, I cycle a lot better...but I am still a Quad with impaired mobility and dexterity in my hands and upper body strength. I'm very fortunate, still recovering from my TBI, I have the ability to think of novel ideas and solutions to the novel challenges I/we face everyday.
Anyone is interested in what has/is still helping me improve, please ask. I'll be delighted to share my experiences.
Keep up the writing and sharing your insights.
Cheers,
Pelle
