Every winter it’s the same old issue in the Northeast constant cloud cover grey skies and bare trees. As nature goes into an almost slumber so do many of our brains and moods. There have been countless studies on what I like to call the winter blues. Sure it would be great to pack up and head to warm weather and blue skies for the winter but that is not a luxury most of us have. So here are some ways to fight off the winter blues.
-Find a good book and dig in, or join a book club many public libraries run them
-Make sure you take your vitamins
-Enjoy a cup of tea: green tea, chamomile, lemon grass, or any tea you want
-If you see the suns go outside and say hello
-Start a new hobby or volunteer your time with a local organization
-Have a gathering with friends/family maybe a game night, wine party, or movie night
-Take a class at your local community college or community center
Its all about taking care of you and finding ways to get yourself going
There is also a difference between having the winter blues and a condition called SAD, Seasonal Affective Disorder if you find your symptoms are more severe than a little winter funk speak to your doctor.
