Eric Gibson, Reeve Foundation Ambassador and Peer and Family Support Program Regional Coordinator talks about a recent gang prevention conference he attended last month
Last month I attended the L.A. Gang Prevention & Intervention conference held at the Center for Healthy Communities in Los Angeles, CA. At this all day conference we discussed how effective collaboration is stemming the tide of gang violence in Los Angeles. I was on a panel speaking about gang violence in our cities. I have been working with the Violence Prevention Coalition of Los Angeles for the past 8 years and I continue to partner with them. I feel that working with this coalition is important so that we can serve the Los Angeles community with the various resources the PRC has to offer.
I feel that violence is one of the main reasons why most young people in Los Angeles have spinal cord injuries and I spend much of my time speaking with at-risk youth about violence and directing them to resources for the community.
