I saw this posted elsewhere on the site and thought I would post it here, too:
Quadriplegic Participants Needed For Research Study
Patients who are quadriplegic from spinal cord injury, brainstem stroke, muscular dystrophy, or motor neuron disease such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and have no or limited use of their hands are needed for an FDA regulated research study to evaluate a new technology which may allow an individual with quadriplegia to control a computer cursor by thought. This study is invasive and requires surgery. You must live within 2 hours of Stanford, California to participate. The study requires a commitment of 13 months. This study is being conducted by Dr. Jaimie Henderson at Stanford University.
If you would like to learn more about this study please contact Dr. Jaimie Henderson at (650) 723-5574. For general information about participant rights, contact 1-866-680-2906.

Discussion: Tell Us About Yourself
New topic created by ChristineNPTL
Title: Survey for Research Purpose
Hello,
A research lab at Stanford University has developed a survey to assess the technology needs of people with paralysis. They hope to better understand what technology is most useful for people with paralysis as well as what movement and control is necessary to restore.
If you are a person living with paralysis, please consider participating in this survey. This survey should not take more than 30 minutes to complete.
Thank you for your time in advance,
Christine

Clinical Trials
Reposting information on clinical trial from University of Washington--this is a study of the effect of exercise on mood. Interviews are done by telephone so they are recruiting from all over the U.S. Details follow:
"The University of Washington's Research and Rehabilitation Training Center has a randomized study looking at a counseling intervention (motivational interviewing) that we'd like to get the word out about. We are continuing to recruit for our research study and we particularly would like to offer the study to people with spinal cord injury. The study is open to adults age 45 and over with SCI or multiple sclerosis, and we are testing the effect of exercise on mood. The principal investigator is Charles Bombardier, PhD. We' re recruiting nationwide and participation is done entirely by telephone. If people are interested in participating, they can reach us at toll-free 1-866-928-2114 or email agerrtc@uw.edu. More information can be found online at

Have you had a spinal cord injury?
• Do you often feel tired or have little energy?
• Have you had trouble with your appetite?
• Have you lost interest in things that you used to enjoy or
do you just feel down?
If you answered yes to just a few of these questions we would
like to invite you to join a research study. A research study
team member can take your call at the number below.
